📖 What is Pixabay Music?

The music section of Pixabay, best known for its image and video assets. It offers over 290,000 community-uploaded background music tracks, free to download with no sign-up. Browse by genre, mood, or tag, or through official playlists for vlogs, games, and more. Sound effects are in a separate section. Under the Pixabay Content License, commercial use and modification are allowed with no credit required, but redistributing or selling the assets on their own is prohibited. Some tracks are registered with YouTube Content ID, so if a claim comes in, you need to show the license information to get it released.

💡 When to Use It

Great for chatting or drawing streams when you want Western-leaning lo-fi or chill background music that won't overlap with the usual go-to tracks from Japanese sites. Since no credit is needed, it's handy for keeping the descriptions of shorts and clips short, or for quickly finding a track with no sign-up and swapping the music on your starting soon or ending screen. It also works well for English streams aimed at overseas viewers, when you need Western-style music that fits the mood.

🚀 How to Use

  1. Step 1: Open Pixabay's "Music" page and type English keywords that fit your stream's mood, such as "lofi," "chill," or "upbeat," into the search box, or narrow things down with genre and mood tags
  2. Step 2: Preview tracks with the play button in the list, then check the length and whether "Content ID Registered" is shown on the track page (tracks with that label may receive a claim on YouTube)
  3. Step 3: Download the mp3 with the "Download" button, then add it to an OBS Studio media source set to loop, or place it on the music track in your video editor
  4. Step 4: In your streaming software's audio mixer, set the music volume well below your mic, and do a test recording to check that your talking is easy to hear
  5. Step 5: If YouTube ever sends a copyright claim, file a dispute and attach the license information from the track page
