AivisSpeech
An AI voice synthesis engine that excels at emotionally rich speech. It runs fast on CPU alone, and its VOICEVOX-compatible interface makes switching over easy. You can add voice models with one click from the official model-sharing platform “AivisHub,” and adjust speaker style, speed, tempo, and volume per sentence to add emotional expression. A long-running site where the independent composer 甘茶 (Amacha) publishes 500+ free BGM tracks. Free for commercial and personal use alike, with no credit required. You're also free to modify tempo and key. Audacity
A free, open-source (GPLv3) staple audio editor. It handles recording, multitrack editing, noise reduction, vocal removal, and pitch/speed changes with intuitive controls, and you can extend its effects with VST3 or Nyquist plugins. It's well suited for cleaning up stream recordings or shaping narration and sound effects for videos, and exports to major formats like WAV, MP3, FLAC, and Ogg. It runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux, making it ideal for streamers and video creators who want to get into serious audio editing without spending a dime.
Audiostock
Japan's largest royalty-free audio stock service, covering 1,000,000+ BGM tracks, sound effects, voice clips, and vocal songs combined. Its strength is search that lets you filter with a Japanese sense of nuance — genre, mood (cheerful/sad/horror, etc.), tempo, and exclusion keywords. Single-track purchases are ¥660 for sound effects and voice clips, from ¥1,210 for BGM, and from ¥3,630 for vocal songs, with a permanent license that never expires once purchased. Tracks work on YouTube with no extra steps, and those cleared against Content ID carry a “YouTube Safe” mark. A personal-use-only video creator plan is ¥858/month (billed annually).
Beatry
A free BGM and sound effects site for YouTube videos and streams, run by Audiostock. Browse tracks by mood or genre, all cleared for commercial use with no credit required. Great for streamers and video creators who want quick, safe audio for starting soon screens, chatting streams, clip transitions, and Shorts. As part of the Audiostock family of asset sites, it pairs well with your existing free BGM sites when you want tracks with a different vibe.
BGMer
A dedicated royalty-free music site that's free for both personal and commercial use. Browse a wide range of genres — pop, EDM, Japanese-style, piano, and more — by mood tags (everyday, fun, battle, etc.) or by use-case categories like "Game Streaming" and "Vlog." Each track comes in both a SHORT and a LONG version, and MP3s can be downloaded with no sign-up required. Crediting is optional (required only for BGM showcase videos), and the site explicitly states it's safe to use even on monetized YouTube channels.
CeVIO AI
An AI voice synthesis tool that uses deep learning to reproduce a voice's tone and singing style. Its biggest strength is covering both spoken narration (Talk) and singing (Song) in one app, with a cast lineup that includes Sato Sasara, Suzuki Tsudumi, IA, 双葉湊音, and そよぎフラクタル. Talk voices and Song voices are sold separately — a Song voice alone runs around ¥10,000, and a starter pack around ¥20,000. It runs on Windows 11 (64-bit); Windows 10 support ended in October 2025. COEIROINK
A free text-to-speech synthesis app that reads your input text aloud in natural-sounding Japanese. Distributed as CPU and GPU versions for Windows, Mac, and Linux — just unzip and run, no installation needed. You can add speakers from the in-app "Character Download" menu, and commercial use is allowed, but crediting is required (e.g., "Voice: COEIROINK / character name"). Terms vary by character, so always check the official terms of use page.
DOVA-SYNDROME
One of Japan's largest royalty-free audio libraries, with about 19,000 BGM tracks and over 1,200 sound effects. Free for commercial and non-commercial use, no credit required. Along with tag and advanced search, there's an AI search (beta) to help find the right track from its huge catalog. Editing and processing files is allowed too. If a composer sets individual usage terms, though, those take priority, so check the track page before use. Streams where the music itself is the main content (e.g. "study BGM" streams) and Content ID registration are both prohibited.
Epidemic Sound
A music library that gives you unlimited BGM and sound effects for a monthly subscription. The company owns the rights to every track outright and issues direct licenses that let you avoid Content ID and DMCA claims on YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok. A free trial is available, but continued use requires a paid plan.
freebgm.jp (Free BGM)
A free BGM site run by momopla LLC (supervised by MARUYA328), offering over 29,000 tracks you can download for free, organized by genre — wafu, horror, Showa/Heisei retro, healing/relaxation, corporate presentations, game sound effects — or by tags like #日常BGM and #癒しBGM. Under the terms, anyone can use the tracks for personal, corporate, or commercial purposes with no application and no credit required (crediting is optional). However, selling or distributing the audio as-is on CD, using it as the main content of a work, or creating derivative works from it is prohibited.
Freesound
A collaborative sound archive run by Spain's Pompeu Fabra University, offering free downloads of over 730,000 sounds contributed by users worldwide. Licenses range from CC0 and CC BY to non-commercial-only terms, so you must check the license on every file. The interface is English-only, and downloading requires a free account.
H/MIX GALLERY
A library of 302 BGM tracks by composer Hirokazu Akiyama. Tracks are organized by scene into 8 categories — Japanese-style/shrine, forest/healing, battle/adventure, bittersweet/sad, horror/fear, upbeat/cheerful, night/stillness, and journey/departure — and you can add previewed tracks to your "Music Notebook" to download later. Free to use for personal and doujin works, and even for monetized personal YouTube videos, with copyright notice optional. Commercial use for ads, video production, and game recordings requires a paid license starting at ¥2,200, and exporting WAV files requires a Studio Pass (¥580/month) or similar.
HURT RECORD
A collectively-run free BGM site where multiple composers contribute tracks across 170+ themes, like "battle," "everyday," and "horror." It hosts over 2,700 BGM tracks and 500+ sound effect files, searchable by theme, artist, or popularity ranking. Usage is free (royalty-free) for both commercial and non-commercial purposes, but commercial use requires submitting your name and where you'll publish it to the site in advance and receiving a permission email. Crediting is optional. The site also offers a custom music commission service.
IchinoseSound
A solo artist's site distributing pop, cute-style free BGM. It's explicitly free for both personal and commercial use, including monetized YouTube and Twitch channels. The tracks are quality-level released on Spotify and Apple Music, and you can download the MP3s without registering an account. Crediting in the format "【BGM: IchinoseSound】" plus your channel URL is required when using a track. Selling or redistributing the audio, or registering it with Content ID, is prohibited.
Looperman
A user-submitted community site for free loops and sample material. New material is added daily, and everything is royalty-free for commercial and non-commercial use. Great for building base material for background music and sound effects, or customizing your own stream background music.
魔王魂
A long-standing Japanese free asset site where you can download BGM, sound effects, and vocal tracks with no registration required. Choose from a wide range of genres — game, heartwarming, cool, Japanese-style, and more. Commercial use is allowed, but you must credit "魔王魂" (Maoudamashii) when you use the tracks. A trusted source that countless VTubers and streamers have relied on for years.
MusMus
A free BGM asset site run by composer Watson, offering everything from mellow ambient and EDM to jazz, chiptune (8-bit style), jingles, and sound effects — no membership required to download. Tracks can be used by individuals and businesses alike, for commercial or non-commercial projects, including monetized YouTube channels. Crediting the source (e.g. "BGM: MusMus") is mandatory, and using a track as the centerpiece of a work, redistributing it as raw material, or using it for AI training is prohibited. If crediting isn't possible, paid licensing can be arranged instead.
NCS (NoCopyrightSounds)
A record label offering free copyright-safe music for creators, focused on EDM, house, and trap. Every track can be used free in videos and streams, and won't trigger a claim as long as you follow the terms — even on monetized content. Usage requires crediting the track and artist name with a link to NCS; during a live stream, simply saying "Music provided by http://spoti.fi/NCS" is enough. Since this is a free license for individual creators, corporate brand promotion or embedding tracks into games requires a separate Commercial License application.
ニコニ・コモンズ
A material-sharing platform run by Dwango. It hosts free downloads spanning music tracks, sound effects, full-body character art, speech bubbles, frames, backgrounds, video effects, and MMD-related assets, and it also consolidates derivative-work (fan content) guidelines. Usage terms vary by asset — some are restricted to use within Niconico Douga only — so checking the license before using something in a stream is essential.
On-Jin ~Otohito~
One of Japan's largest free sound-effect sites, offering everyday sounds, dramatic effects, nature sounds, and more — all downloadable for free to punch up a stream or video. It also offers BGM and jingles; commercial use is fine if you follow the site's terms. A go-to site with a huge, easy-to-search library.
音楽の卵
A free BGM site run by sound programmer takai, offering over 200 RPG-style game tracks and 100+ piano pieces, plus a wide range of classical arrangements. Alongside MP3, tracks are also available in seamless loop-ready OGG format. Commercial and secondary use are both free, and no usage report or credit is generally required (arranged classical pieces do call for consideration toward the original composer). A great fit for individual streamers who want to build out their stream BGM and starting soon screen music library at no cost.
OtoLogic
A free asset site for BGM, jingles, and sound effects. Commercial use is allowed with credit, and it offers a strong library of high-quality BGM and sound effects with a solid track record of use on YouTube and live streams. A paid license is available for commercial use without credit.
PANICPUMPKIN
A site distributing original Famicom-style music tracks, created by MISOKA. It publishes 262 tracks, organized by scene — "Fun Story," "Suspicious Mission," "Sad Game Over," and more. Each track is available as both MP3 and ZIP-compressed WAV, making it a good fit for setting the mood in retro game playthroughs or pixel-art projects. Commercial use is allowed and credit is optional, but there are restrictions on uses where the music itself is the main draw (like a work-BGM stream), so check the site's current terms of use.
PeriTune
A free music asset site distributing original BGM built around fantasy, Japanese-style, and horror worlds. Batch-download MP3/OGG/M4A along with loop versions; credit is optional and commercial use is allowed (except some paid tracks). Tracks from March 2026 onward use a custom license; earlier ones are under CC BY 4.0 (some paid originals also available).

Fast to use — one click to preview, one click to download. No registration, credit, or backlink required, and commercial use is free. Recordings differ from the main Sound Effect Lab site, making it a handy second source when you don't want your sounds to overlap with the usual ones.
Sound Effect Lab
A free sound-effect and SFX library that allows commercial use with no credit required. It covers everything from streamer staples like drum hits, fanfares, applause, and laughter to game, everyday, and ambient sounds. The search feature is robust, letting you quickly find and download the right effect for the moment — a go-to resource for streamers.
Sound Effect Lab Sound Board
A web sampler provided by Sound Effect Lab. Register your go-to sound effects to 12 buttons and play them instantly with one click during a stream. No software installation is needed since it runs in the browser, and capturing the audio with OBS's audio capture lets you bring the sound into your stream. Commercial use is OK and no credit required. *YouTube Content ID registration and redistribution as a sound-effect collection are prohibited.
StreamBeats
An English-language music library offering DMCA-safe tracks for free, made for streamers. It has over 1,500 tracks across 11 genres, including Lofi, EDM, and Synthwave, playable and downloadable via Spotify or Bandcamp, with a perpetual license that needs no credit and allows monetization. Built for streamers who want to avoid Twitch's mute/takedown risk.
Uppbeat
A royalty-free music and sound effects service for YouTubers and streamers. Even the free plan gives you 3 downloads a month and access to 25% of the catalog, but you need to paste the credit code issued for each track directly into your video description.
