AivisSpeech

An AI voice synthesis engine that excels at emotionally rich speech. It runs fast on CPU alone, and its VOICEVOX-compatible interface makes switching over easy. You can add voice models with one click from the official model-sharing platform “AivisHub,” and adjust speaker style, speed, tempo, and volume per sentence to add emotional expression. It also supports a custom dictionary for names and proper nouns, and a VOICEVOX-compatible engine API (with Yukkuri MovieMaker 4 integration). The core app is LGPL-3.0 open source, free with no credit required (usage rights follow each voice model's own license).

甘茶の音楽工房

A long-running site where the independent composer 甘茶 (Amacha) publishes 500+ free BGM tracks. It's rich in calm styles like music box, healing, fantasy, and Japanese-style, and its standout feature is letting you search by mood — “bright,” “healing,” “fantastical,” and so on. Free for commercial and personal use alike, with no credit required. You're also free to modify tempo and key. You can preview tracks directly on the listing page and download MP3s with no membership needed. Content ID registration and reselling or redistributing individual tracks are prohibited.

Amitaro's Voice Material Studio

A free Japanese voice asset site run by voice actress Amitaro since 1997. It offers over 3,300 lines in a bright, easy-to-understand girl's voice, downloadable by category: game and app callouts, number and time readouts, navigation prompts, and more. It also distributes COEIROINK/SHAREVOX voice synthesis models, RVC models, and corpus audio. Commercial use and monetized streaming are allowed as long as you credit the site. Use in age-restricted works and reselling the assets are prohibited.

Audacity

A free, open-source (GPLv3) staple audio editor. It handles recording, multitrack editing, noise reduction, vocal removal, and pitch/speed changes with intuitive controls, and you can extend its effects with VST3 or Nyquist plugins. It's well suited for cleaning up stream recordings or shaping narration and sound effects for videos, and exports to major formats like WAV, MP3, FLAC, and Ogg. It runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux, making it ideal for streamers and video creators who want to get into serious audio editing without spending a dime.

Audiostock

Japan's largest royalty-free audio stock service, covering 1,000,000+ BGM tracks, sound effects, voice clips, and vocal songs combined. Its strength is search that lets you filter with a Japanese sense of nuance — genre, mood (cheerful/sad/horror, etc.), tempo, and exclusion keywords. Single-track purchases are ¥660 for sound effects and voice clips, from ¥1,210 for BGM, and from ¥3,630 for vocal songs, with a permanent license that never expires once purchased. Tracks work on YouTube with no extra steps, and those cleared against Content ID carry a “YouTube Safe” mark. A personal-use-only video creator plan is ¥858/month (billed annually).

Beatry

A free BGM and sound effects site for YouTube videos and streams, run by Audiostock. Browse tracks by mood or genre, all cleared for commercial use with no credit required. Great for streamers and video creators who want quick, safe audio for starting soon screens, chatting streams, clip transitions, and Shorts. As part of the Audiostock family of asset sites, it pairs well with your existing free BGM sites when you want tracks with a different vibe.

BGMer

A dedicated royalty-free music site that's free for both personal and commercial use. Browse a wide range of genres — pop, EDM, Japanese-style, piano, and more — by mood tags (everyday, fun, battle, etc.) or by use-case categories like "Game Streaming" and "Vlog." Each track comes in both a SHORT and a LONG version, and MP3s can be downloaded with no sign-up required. Crediting is optional (required only for BGM showcase videos), and the site explicitly states it's safe to use even on monetized YouTube channels.

Royalty-Free Track “The Waiting Screen Is Exciting!” (Otakara BGM | BOOTH)

Free background music written for stream starting soon screens. Published by Otakara BGM, the package includes both a loop-ready version and a one-hour version as WAV, so it plays seamlessly whether the wait is short or you are on a long work stream. The bright arrangement is aimed at starting soon screens for live streams, VTubers, game commentary and karaoke. Commercial use is allowed and credit is optional (noting the channel name and URL in your description is encouraged). Redistribution and registration with YouTube Content ID are prohibited.

CeVIO AI

An AI voice synthesis tool that uses deep learning to reproduce a voice's tone and singing style. Its biggest strength is covering both spoken narration (Talk) and singing (Song) in one app, with a cast lineup that includes Sato Sasara, Suzuki Tsudumi, IA, 双葉湊音, and そよぎフラクタル. Talk voices and Song voices are sold separately — a Song voice alone runs around ¥10,000, and a starter pack around ¥20,000. It runs on Windows 11 (64-bit); Windows 10 support ended in October 2025. Custom BGM Production for Streamers (FiNe Lively Records | Coconala)

A Coconala service for creating original BGM for VTubers and streamers. You can discuss stylish, cute, jazz-flavored, futuristic EDM-style, and other directions, with loopable WAV audio delivered for use in streams. Because commercial use and copyright transfer are supported, it is a candidate when you want music that matches your channel for waiting screens, live segments, endings, or special projects. Good for creators who cannot find the right mood in free BGM libraries.

Utattemita (Song Cover) Vocal Mixing (Perry | Coconala)

A Coconala PRO-certified listing (Perry) where you can commission vocal mixing for song cover videos. The base price is ¥13,000, and includes manual pitch and rhythm correction (not reliant on auto-correction) plus noise removal, with unlimited revisions (piecemeal revision requests may incur a fee). Mixing for vocals run through a voice changer is available at the same price, and the seller also handles harmony creation (+¥5,000), collabs (+¥5,000 per additional person), and heavily effected arrangements. Has a track record mixing VTuber cover albums. Turnaround time varies with workload, so check the listing page.

COEIROINK

A free text-to-speech synthesis app that reads your input text aloud in natural-sounding Japanese. Distributed as CPU and GPU versions for Windows, Mac, and Linux — just unzip and run, no installation needed. You can add speakers from the in-app "Character Download" menu, and commercial use is allowed, but crediting is required (e.g., "Voice: COEIROINK / character name"). Terms vary by character, so always check the official terms of use page.

DOVA-SYNDROME

One of Japan's largest royalty-free audio libraries, with about 19,000 BGM tracks and over 1,200 sound effects. Free for commercial and non-commercial use, no credit required. Along with tag and advanced search, there's an AI search (beta) to help find the right track from its huge catalog. Editing and processing files is allowed too. If a composer sets individual usage terms, though, those take priority, so check the track page before use. Streams where the music itself is the main content (e.g. "study BGM" streams) and Content ID registration are both prohibited.

Epidemic Sound

A music library that gives you unlimited BGM and sound effects for a monthly subscription. The company owns the rights to every track outright and issues direct licenses that let you avoid Content ID and DMCA claims on YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok. A free trial is available, but continued use requires a paid plan.

freebgm.jp (Free BGM)

A free BGM site run by momopla LLC (supervised by MARUYA328), offering over 29,000 tracks you can download for free, organized by genre — wafu, horror, Showa/Heisei retro, healing/relaxation, corporate presentations, game sound effects — or by tags like #日常BGM and #癒しBGM. Under the terms, anyone can use the tracks for personal, corporate, or commercial purposes with no application and no credit required (crediting is optional). However, selling or distributing the audio as-is on CD, using it as the main content of a work, or creating derivative works from it is prohibited.

Freesound

A collaborative sound archive run by Spain's Pompeu Fabra University, offering free downloads of over 730,000 sounds contributed by users worldwide. Licenses range from CC0 and CC BY to non-commercial-only terms, so you must check the license on every file. The interface is English-only, and downloading requires a free account.

H/MIX GALLERY

A library of 302 BGM tracks by composer Hirokazu Akiyama. Tracks are organized by scene into 8 categories — Japanese-style/shrine, forest/healing, battle/adventure, bittersweet/sad, horror/fear, upbeat/cheerful, night/stillness, and journey/departure — and you can add previewed tracks to your "Music Notebook" to download later. Free to use for personal and doujin works, and even for monetized personal YouTube videos, with copyright notice optional. Commercial use for ads, video production, and game recordings requires a paid license starting at ¥2,200, and exporting WAV files requires a Studio Pass (¥580/month) or similar.

HURT RECORD

A collectively-run free BGM site where multiple composers contribute tracks across 170+ themes, like "battle," "everyday," and "horror." It hosts over 2,700 BGM tracks and 500+ sound effect files, searchable by theme, artist, or popularity ranking. Usage is free (royalty-free) for both commercial and non-commercial purposes, but commercial use requires submitting your name and where you'll publish it to the site in advance and receiving a permission email. Crediting is optional. The site also offers a custom music commission service.

IchinoseSound

A solo artist's site distributing pop, cute-style free BGM. It's explicitly free for both personal and commercial use, including monetized YouTube and Twitch channels. The tracks are quality-level released on Spotify and Apple Music, and you can download the MP3s without registering an account. Crediting in the format "【BGM: IchinoseSound】" plus your channel URL is required when using a track. Selling or redistributing the audio, or registering it with Content ID, is prohibited.

Looperman

A community site where creators from around the world upload drum, piano, and synth loops as well as acapellas, all free to download. Loops are royalty-free and can be used commercially or non-commercially, and you can filter by BPM, key, genre, and category while previewing them. Aimed at streamers and DTM beginners who want to gather material for original stream background music and jingles. A free membership is required, and acapellas are generally non-commercial only, so checking the terms is a must.

魔王魂

A long-standing Japanese free asset site where you can download BGM, sound effects, and vocal tracks with no registration required. Choose from a wide range of genres — game, heartwarming, cool, Japanese-style, and more. Commercial use is allowed, but you must credit "魔王魂" (Maoudamashii) when you use the tracks. A trusted source that countless VTubers and streamers have relied on for years.

MusMus

A free BGM asset site run by composer Watson, offering everything from mellow ambient and EDM to jazz, chiptune (8-bit style), jingles, and sound effects — no membership required to download. Tracks can be used by individuals and businesses alike, for commercial or non-commercial projects, including monetized YouTube channels. Crediting the source (e.g. "BGM: MusMus") is mandatory, and using a track as the centerpiece of a work, redistributing it as raw material, or using it for AI training is prohibited. If crediting isn't possible, paid licensing can be arranged instead.

NCS (NoCopyrightSounds)

A record label offering free copyright-safe music for creators, focused on EDM, house, and trap. Every track can be used free in videos and streams, and won't trigger a claim as long as you follow the terms — even on monetized content. Usage requires crediting the track and artist name with a link to NCS; during a live stream, simply saying "Music provided by http://spoti.fi/NCS" is enough. Since this is a free license for individual creators, corporate brand promotion or embedding tracks into games requires a separate Commercial License application.

ニコニ・コモンズ

A material-sharing platform run by Dwango. It hosts free downloads spanning music tracks, sound effects, full-body character art, speech bubbles, frames, backgrounds, video effects, and MMD-related assets, and it also consolidates derivative-work (fan content) guidelines. Usage terms vary by asset — some are restricted to use within Niconico Douga only — so checking the license before using something in a stream is essential.

Waveform (OBS Audio Spectrum Plugin)

An OBS plugin that draws the frequency spectrum of an audio source on your stream. Add the "Waveform Visualizer" source, point it at your mic or background music, and it renders a curve, bars, stepped bars, a level meter with an RMS mode, or an experimental waveform, while Radial Layout bends any of them into a circle. The three-colour gradient, FFT size and smoothing are all adjustable. Free and open source (GPL-3.0) for 64-bit Windows, macOS and Linux on OBS 27 or later.

On-Jin (音人)

A long-running Japanese free sound effect library. Its catalogue is split into machinery, human, ambience, daily life, animal, vehicle, battle, sports, miscellaneous and music categories, all distributed as mp3. Individuals, circles, schools and volunteer groups may use the files without contacting the site, commercial or not, and credit is optional. Only companies and for-profit businesses need to ask permission first, and reselling or redistributing the files themselves is prohibited.

音楽の卵

A free BGM site run by sound programmer takai, offering over 200 RPG-style game tracks and 100+ piano pieces, plus a wide range of classical arrangements. Alongside MP3, tracks are also available in seamless loop-ready OGG format. Commercial and secondary use are both free, and no usage report or credit is generally required (arranged classical pieces do call for consideration toward the original composer). A great fit for individual streamers who want to build out their stream BGM and starting soon screen music library at no cost.

OtoLogic

A Japanese free audio asset site distributing background music, jingles and sound effects. Everything is offered under CC BY 4.0, so crediting “OtoLogic” lets individuals and companies alike use it at no cost, including commercial use and editing. You can preview and download MP3s on the spot without signing up, and the categories on offer — cyber, countdown, onomatopoeia, PC interface sounds — suit streaming well. A paid no-credit license is available if you would rather leave the attribution out.

PANICPUMPKIN

A site distributing original Famicom-style music tracks, created by MISOKA. It publishes 262 tracks, organized by scene — "Fun Story," "Suspicious Mission," "Sad Game Over," and more. Each track is available as both MP3 and ZIP-compressed WAV, making it a good fit for setting the mood in retro game playthroughs or pixel-art projects. Commercial use is allowed and credit is optional, but there are restrictions on uses where the music itself is the main draw (like a work-BGM stream), so check the site's current terms of use.

PeriTune

A free music asset site distributing original BGM built around fantasy, Japanese-style, and horror worlds. Batch-download MP3/OGG/M4A along with loop versions; credit is optional and commercial use is allowed (except some paid tracks). Tracks from March 2026 onward use a custom license; earlier ones are under CC BY 4.0 (some paid originals also available).

Pixabay Music

The music section of Pixabay, best known for its image and video assets. It offers over 290,000 community-uploaded background music tracks, free to download with no sign-up. Browse by genre, mood, or tag, or through official playlists for vlogs, games, and more. Sound effects are in a separate section. Under the Pixabay Content License, commercial use and modification are allowed with no credit required, but redistributing or selling the assets on their own is prohibited. Some tracks are registered with YouTube Content ID, so if a claim comes in, you need to show the license information to get it released.

Pocket Sound

A free audio asset site distributing over 2,300 sound effects and BGM tracks. It's easy to browse by category — button sounds, notification sounds, ambient sounds — making it handy for small touches of production in a stream or video. Free to use with credit, and a well-rounded go-to site that also carries loop BGM and noise assets.

Sound Effect Dictionary

A free sound-effect library from Sound Effect Lab, organized into 7 categories: anime/production, battle, mechanical, everyday life, ambience, buttons/system sounds, and nature. Fast to use — one click to preview, one click to download. No registration, credit, or backlink required, and commercial use is free. Recordings differ from the main Sound Effect Lab site, making it a handy second source when you don't want your sounds to overlap with the usual ones.

Soundeffect Lab

A Japanese free sound effect site that is free for commercial use and needs no credit. Clips are grouped into battle, staging and anime, voice clips, daily life, machines and vehicles, ambience, button and system sounds, and nature and animals, and each mp3 downloads with a single left click. A web app, Soundeffect Pon-dashi, is also provided for firing clips live during a stream. Editing is allowed, but redistributing the files, adult use, and use as AI training data are prohibited.

Sound Effect Lab Sound Board

A web sampler provided by Sound Effect Lab. Register your go-to sound effects to 12 buttons and play them instantly with one click during a stream. No software installation is needed since it runs in the browser, and capturing the audio with OBS's audio capture lets you bring the sound into your stream. It makes reaction-style streaming and sound-effect production easy to pull off.

SOUNDRAW

A Japan-based AI composition service where you specify genre, mood, and length, and it generates original BGM for you. It's trained only on tracks the company itself produced, and a paid plan lets you use and monetize the generated tracks commercially. The free tier covers generation and preview; downloading needs a paid plan.

Springin' Sound Stock

A free sound library run by Shikumi Design Inc., with over 1,000 sounds across 11 categories — battle, production, everyday life, retro-game-style SFX, and 10-second BGM — downloadable with no registration. Commercial use is OK and no credit required. *YouTube Content ID registration and redistribution as a sound-effect collection are prohibited.

StreamBeats

An English-language music library offering DMCA-safe tracks for free, made for streamers. It has over 1,500 tracks across 11 genres, including Lofi, EDM, and Synthwave, playable and downloadable via Spotify or Bandcamp, with a perpetual license that needs no credit and allows monetization. Built for streamers who want to avoid Twitch's mute/takedown risk.

Uppbeat

A royalty-free music and sound effects service for YouTubers and streamers. Even the free plan gives you 3 downloads a month and access to 25% of the catalog, but you need to paste the credit code issued for each track directly into your video description. Paid plans (Essentials $6.99/mo for 1 channel, Creator $8.99/mo for 3 channels, Pro $14.99/mo for 10 channels) add unlimited downloads and the full catalog, and let you register on YouTube's safelist to preemptively avoid Content ID claims — no credit required. The UI is in English.

VB-CABLE

The go-to driver for adding a virtual audio device that passes sound from one app on your PC to another. Installing it adds a playback device called "CABLE Input" and a recording device called "CABLE Output"; whatever you send to Input comes straight out of Output. It's aimed at streamers who want to route only game audio or a music app to OBS or Discord. Windows XP through 11 (32/64-bit and Arm64) and macOS 10.10 or later are supported. It's donationware — free for personal use, with an optional payment of whatever amount you think it's worth.

Voicemeeter Banana

A virtual audio mixer for Windows that brings your mic, game audio, background music, and everything else together on one screen. It offers three physical plus two virtual inputs and three physical plus two virtual outputs, an 8-channel, 6-cell full parametric EQ, a tape deck for recording and playing back audio, and VBAN for sending audio over your LAN. Its biggest strength is splitting what viewers hear and what you monitor across the A and B buses. It is donationware with every function available, and it supports Windows XP through 11 as well as ARM64.

VOICEPEAK

A one-time-purchase text-to-speech application powered by "Syllaflow", the AI voice synthesis engine developed by Dreamtonics. Type your script, move the emotion parameters for joy, anger, sadness and delight, and you get narration close to a human voice. Commercial and business use is allowed, generally without contacting AHS first, so it is fine for videos and social posts. The popular "6 Narrator Set for Commercial Use" comes in vol.1 and vol.2 at ¥23,800 for the download edition and ¥29,800 boxed. It exports WAV and FLAC but not MP3, and a free trial is available.

VOICEVOX (Zundamon)

Free text-to-speech and singing voice synthesis software. It comes with over 47 character voices — including Shikoku Metan, Zundamon, and Kasukabe Tsumugi — and can turn typed text into natural-sounding speech. You can fine-tune intonation, accent, and speaking speed, and it even includes a "humming" feature that makes the voice sing. It runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux, and is great for reading out stream chat, narrating game commentary, or making videos. It's free for both commercial and non-commercial use, but since each character has its own terms of use, be sure to check them before using.

ZapSplat

A large UK-based sound effects library. You can search by category through over 160,000 sound effects, more than 750 SFX packs, and over 1,000 background music tracks, all made by hand by real sound designers. The free Basic membership requires a "ZapSplat" credit, offers mp3 only, and limits downloads; its terms explicitly cover commercial use, including Twitch streams and YouTube videos. Paid Premium gives you wav files, unlimited downloads, and no credit requirement. Using the assets in soundboard products where they are the main value, or for AI training, is prohibited.
