📖 What is VRM Add-on for Blender?

A free add-on that gives Blender the ability to import, export and edit VRM. Adjust a VRM made in VRoid Studio or elsewhere inside Blender, set up VRM Humanoid and the MToon shader, and export it again. It also offers an automation API through Python scripts, and supports Blender 2.93 through 5.2. Open source under MIT/GPL-3.0, it is aimed at intermediate users ready to move into model modification.

💡 When to Use It

A good fit when you want to make a model built in VRoid Studio feel a little more your own. Adding a hair ornament, fixing part of an outfit, tuning how MToon looks — it covers modifications that VRoid's standard features cannot quite reach. The other case is a final check before taking a model into a streaming app: you can tidy up Humanoid settings, expressions and materials in Blender and export back to VRM, which also helps for light fixes before turning to a paid modeler.

🚀 How to Use

  1. Step 1: Check your Blender version and install VRM Add-on for Blender — from Blender's preferences or a web browser on 4.2 and later, or via the older procedure on 2.93 through 4.1.
  2. Step 2: Restart Blender and confirm the add-on is enabled. If you are working on an existing VRoid model or a VRM you stream with, always back up the original data under a different name.
  3. Step 3: Import the VRM file through Blender's import function and edit what you need — hair, outfit, accessories, expression meshes. Work in small, verified steps so you do not break bones or materials.
  4. Step 4: Check the VRM Humanoid, expression, MToon shader and spring bone settings, then export as VRM. If errors appear, review the unset items in the add-on's VRM panels.
  5. Step 5: Load the exported VRM into the app you actually use — VSeeFace, Warudo, VRoid Hub — and test that expressions, sway items and textures hold up in your streaming environment.
