📖 What is Aitum Vertical (Vertical Canvas)?

A free OBS Studio plugin that adds a vertical canvas (its GitHub name is Vertical Canvas). While you stream in landscape, you build a separate 9:16 screen and send only that vertical output to another destination or record it. The Vertical Canvas dock manages your vertical scenes, Linked Scenes keeps them in step with your main scenes, Backtrack saves the last few minutes as a clip, and there is a dedicated vertical virtual camera output. Open source under GPL-2.0.

Use it when you want your landscape game stream to produce TikTok or YouTube Shorts footage at the same time. Set up Linked Scenes and the vertical side follows along whenever you switch scenes, so there is nothing extra to touch mid-stream. It removes the chore of re-editing everything to 9:16 afterwards, which suits streamers who post clips to social media regularly. Backtrack can save the last few minutes as a clip, so you can export a hype moment as a vertical video on the spot.

🚀 How to Use

1. Step 1: Get the Windows installer (.exe), the macOS .pkg or the Linux .deb from aitum.tv/vertical or the GitHub releases page (on Flatpak OBS, install com.obsproject.Studio.Plugin.VerticalCanvas).
2. Step 2: Close OBS, install, and restart it, then check that the "Vertical Canvas" dock is showing (if not, enable it from the dock list in the View menu).
3. Step 3: In Vertical Settings, set Resolution (1080x1920 or similar) under General, and use Show vertical scenes in main scene list to decide whether vertical scenes appear in your main scene list.
4. Step 4: Add vertical scenes in the Vertical Canvas dock and arrange your game capture and camera for 9:16. Set up Linked Scenes if you want them to follow your landscape scene switches.
5. Step 5: Enter the Server and Key for your destination under Streaming in Vertical Settings and set an output folder under Recording, then test Start streaming / Record vertical from the dock to confirm it runs alongside your landscape stream.
