📖 What is CapCut?
A feature-rich video editor for Windows and Mac. Alongside timeline editing, it offers auto captions (automatic subtitle generation), keyframes, and aspect ratio conversion that keeps the subject in frame, so you can produce clips from stream archives and vertical shorts all in one app. The free plan covers basic editing and auto captions, while AI features (800 credits per month) and premium templates require Pro (¥2,700/month or ¥21,800/year; prices may change).
💡 When to Use It
Ideal when you want to cut the most exciting few dozen seconds out of a long gaming stream archive, add subtitles with auto captions, and turn it into a vertical video for YouTube Shorts or TikTok. It also suits solo VTubers without a dedicated editor, for things like compiling the best moments of chat streams into a weekly clip video or quickly making a teaser for a debut or event announcement.

🚀 How to Use
- Step 1: Install the desktop app from "Download for free" on the official CapCut site and sign in with your account
- Step 2: Create a "New project", drag and drop a video file exported from your stream archive onto the timeline, then split and delete to keep only the section you want to clip
- Step 3: Go to "Text" → "Auto captions" and click "Generate" to create subtitles from speech, then fix mistranscriptions and adjust font and color
- Step 4: For shorts, change the canvas ratio to 9:16 and adjust position and keyframes so the subject (your avatar or the key part of the game screen) stays in frame
- Step 5: Choose resolution and frame rate in "Export", render the video, and post it to YouTube Shorts or TikTok
