📖 What is Photopea?

A free image editing tool that runs entirely in your browser. It opens and edits many formats — PSD, AI, XD, Figma, SVG, PDF, RAW (DNG/CR2/NEF, etc.) — with no install needed, and since files are processed on your own device, nothing gets uploaded to the cloud. It matches Photoshop-level features like layers, masks, layer styles, smart objects, and adjustment layers, plus AI tools for one-click background removal and replacing parts of an image from a text prompt. The free version shows ads; Premium removes them and adds more.

💡 When to Use It

Perfect for when you've been sent a PSD stream asset but don't own Photoshop — you can open it and export right through to the finished file. It has plenty of power for detail work too, like adding text to a thumbnail, cutting the background out of character art, or recoloring a stream overlay frame asset. Since all you need is a browser, you can work from a laptop or Chromebook on the go, which is great when you need to fix an announcement image in a hurry. And because data is processed on your own device, it's also comfortable to use with unreleased artwork.

🚀 How to Use

1. Step 1: Open photopea.com in your browser (no install or account needed)
2. Step 2: Go to "File" → "Open" and load the PSD, PNG, JPG, or other file you want to edit (distributed PSD assets open as-is too)
3. Step 3: Use the toolbar on the left and the layers panel to crop, add text, and outline with layer styles
4. Step 4: Use the background removal AI to cut out a person from a photo in one click, for character art or a thumbnail
5. Step 5: Go to "File" → "Export as" to export as PNG or JPG, then use it as an OBS image source or thumbnail
