📖 What is Larix Broadcaster?

A free app for going live straight from a phone or tablet. Alongside RTMP/RTMPS it supports SRT (Push/Listen/Rendezvous), RIST and RTSP, so the picture holds together on unstable connections — handy for on-location coverage or feeding a streaming server at home. It runs on iOS 16 or later, Android 7.0 or later and Mac, and can overlay images, text and timestamps as well as record on the device. Core streaming is free; H.265/HEVC, NDI, WHIP and three or more simultaneous outputs are premium features.

💡 When to Use It

For streaming from an event venue or a collab partner's place when you would rather carry a phone than a whole PC. Choose SRT and you can push to YouTube or your own streaming server at home without the picture falling apart, even on a shaky mobile connection outdoors. The other case is using your phone as a second camera while OBS runs on your PC: shoot your hands or a console screen and feed it into OBS over SRT/RTMP, and you have a second angle with no extra capture hardware.

🚀 How to Use

  1. Step 1: Install “Larix Broadcaster” from the App Store or Google Play and allow camera and microphone access on first launch.
  2. Step 2: Tap the gear icon at the top right, open Settings → Connections → New connection, and enter the server URL (rtmp:// or srt://) and stream key from your streaming destination, then save.
  3. Step 3: Set resolution and bitrate under Settings → Video (turning on “Bitrate matches resolution” assigns it automatically for the resolution). Adjust bitrate and input gain under Settings → Audio.
  4. Step 4: Add image, text or timestamp overlays if you need them. For outdoor streams, dropping the resolution to 720p in advance keeps things stable when bandwidth gets thin.
  5. Step 5: Tap the red stream button in the middle of the screen to start sending. Connection status and effective bitrate appear at the top, so if the numbers dip, stop once and lower the bitrate.
