📖 What is Riverside?

A service for interviews and podcasts that records and live streams in high quality from the browser alone. Its defining feature is local recording on each participant's own device: even if the call connection breaks up, you keep per-person tracks at up to 4K with uncompressed audio. It also offers text-based editing that cuts video the way you edit a transcript, filler-word removal, AI clip generation and simulcasting to YouTube and elsewhere. The free plan gives 720p, two hours of separate-track recording and a watermark; paid plans start at $24 a month for Pro billed annually.

💡 When to Use It

For an interview episode with a distant VTuber or writer as a guest, when you want to avoid the dropouts and compression damage that plague Discord recordings. Because each person is recorded locally, even a session with a rough connection leaves you audio worth listening to. The other case is turning a stream archive into clips: split the automatic transcript by topic and export, and you can prepare short videos or a podcast episode without opening an editor, publishing to YouTube and Spotify together.

🚀 How to Use

  1. Step 1: Create an account at riverside.com and start a new Studio from the dashboard. Nothing to install — it runs in a browser such as Chrome.
  2. Step 2: Before recording, pick your camera and microphone and check the resolution (720p on the free plan, up to 4K on paid) and the separate-track recording setting.
  3. Step 3: Send the studio invite link to your guest. They just open the link, enter a name and choose their gear — no app installation needed.
  4. Step 4: Hit Record to start. Video is saved locally on each participant's device while uploading in parallel, so a rough connection mid-session does not degrade the final file.
  5. Step 5: Afterwards, open the automatically generated transcript and delete unwanted remarks and filler words from the text to tidy the video. Then export as MP4 or an audio file, or publish straight to YouTube or Spotify.
